Theater Club

We strive to provide our students with the tools not only for academic success, but the tools necessary for success in the world of performing arts. Through our Reading Theater after school program, students are encouraged to discover and explore their natural talents in the areas of acting, singing, dancing choreography, and backstage management.

Since 2019, we have performed three musicals which include Winter Wonderland, written by our music teacher and musical director, Ms. Nnek Davis, The Wiz, and The Lion King.

Our reading theater staff has included, Mr. Andrew Williams, Ms. Kimberly Crawford, Mrs. Diane Townsell-Johnson, our illustrious nurse, Mrs. Kimberly Hamilton, and many, many other staff members who have undergirded the club with support. We are pleased to add the talents of Ms. Deanna Lewis to our reading theater staff.

Debate Club

The Laboratory Charter School Debate Club is a dynamic and engaging extracurricular activity designed to develop students’ critical thinking, public speaking, and persuasive skills.

Open to students in grades 6 through 8, the club provides a supportive environment where members can learn the fundamentals of debate, including argument construction, rebuttal strategies, and effective communication techniques. Through regular practice sessions, mock debates, and participation in inter-school competitions, students gain confidence in articulating their ideas, defending their positions, and respecting differing viewpoints.

The Debate Club is an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their academic and social skills while engaging in thoughtful discourse on various topics.
